I used to travel to school by bus and it was a long, horrible journey. A guy used to get on my bus who I called ‘guitar-man’ – he was a short, good-looking Rastafarian carrying a guitar. He had big brown eyes and a charming smile. There was something about him that made it hard for me not to look at him.
One day on Myspace I saw a featured artist called Natty, who turned out to be ‘guitar-man.' I couldn’t believe it! I saw that he was performing at a club near me and I got some tickets straightaway. The gig was amazing and since then, I have seen him perform his reggae/roots/alternative music live three times and have bought his album and EP.
Recently, Natty worked with the music company PledgeMusic and the Sarcoma Trust charity to allow fans to donate money to the charity and get something in return. I paid £50 to have my name in the ‘Thank You’ credits of Natty’s new EP, ‘Things I’ve Done’ and receive a signed copy.
When I eventually received the EP, I was upset to see that only ‘Donna’ was written in the credits. I mean, I’m not the only ‘Donna’ in the world, am I? I told the organisers about the mistake and they told me that as compensation I could have a 10-minute phone conversation with Natty.
So a time was arranged for him to ring me. My heart was pounding when I picked up the phone, but eventually I felt like I was talking to an old friend. He was friendly, funny and down-to-earth, and the conversation went on for twice as long as it was supposed to. I got to find out more about him, and he even asked me questions about myself too. I was on a high for the rest of the day. I will always be a fan and can’t wait for him to release his second album.
